Which lock we would specify here

Where "demonstrably" has to mean a written record, the same cabinet goes on the platform.

Boltless light-duty shelving through to heavy pallet racking, plus mobile compact shelving that runs on floor tracks to recover the aisles. This is the least glamorous part of the range and often the highest-value: most store rooms we survey are holding half of what the same floor area could take.

Do we need the connected platform, or will keypad locks do?
For most schools, keypad locks will do, and we will tell you that before you ask. A battery keypad lock removes the lost-key problem entirely, needs no socket, no cabling and no IT approval, and carries no annual subscription against a budget you have to defend every year. The connected platform earns its place in two specific situations: when reassigning a whole year group centrally is worth more than walking the corridor door by door, and on cabinets holding student records under retention obligations, where an access log is the actual requirement. If neither applies, buy keypad locks and spend the difference on heavier doors.
Can a whole year group be reassigned at the start of term?
On the connected tier, yes — and it is the single biggest time saving there. Assignments are uploaded from a spreadsheet, every student gets their code without anyone handling a key, ending last year's assignments is one operation, and the platform reports which lockers were not emptied so they can be cleared before term starts. With standalone keypad locks the same job means walking the corridor and reprogramming each door with a programming card — perfectly manageable for a hundred lockers over a morning, and the reason larger schools move up a tier.
What if a student forgets their code?
With keypad locks, staff reset it at the door with the programming card, or open it with the master override key. On the connected tier, staff look the code up or reset it in the dashboard, or trigger a remote release from a phone. Either way: no bolt cutter, no lock change, no waiting for the caretaker with a key ring.
Are these robust enough for secondary school corridors?
Specify them properly and yes. Heavier gauge doors, welded rather than knock-down construction, a welded plinth so the floor can be washed, and no protruding handles to catch a bag or a shoulder. Student lockers take genuine abuse and the cheapest specification is a false economy — we will quote what will last rather than what wins on price alone.
Do you supply against a school tender specification?
Yes. Send the specification and we will respond to it, including dimensioned drawings, material and finish schedules, load ratings, warranty terms and compliance documentation. If part of the specification is unwise for the application — and school locker specifications sometimes are — we will say so in the submission rather than quietly comply.
